This short course provides an overview of the effects of human and organisational factors on risk, resilience and dependability, and the methods used to assess those effects.

After attending this one-day course, participants will:
- recognise the roles of human and organisational factors in complex socio-technical systems
- identify methods to study human performance and understand the implications of relevant techniques for dependability and resilience

- Introduction to human and organizational factors
- Human fallibility and human resourcefulness
- Methods to study human performance (e.g. human reliability assessment, task analysis)
- Automation bias in computerised decision support
- Organisational factors: high reliability organisations, resilience engineering
- Demonstrations and practical exercises
