Human and Organisational Factors in IT Resilience

One day awareness and update course for managers and corporate IT specialists

Outline of the day

Course dates in 2010

About the course

Human and organisational factors are important determinants of IT resilience. Humans play varied crucial roles in IT, whether as users or skilled operators, as administrators, or as designers and developers of computer-based systems. Thus, the study of risk and resilience is increasingly recognising the relevance of considering the role of human users and that of the social and organisational contexts of computer use.

Humans affect dependability and resilience in many different ways. Humans can increase risks, by making mistakes or via malicious behaviour, but they can also make a positive contribution to system dependability and resilience because of their flexibility and ability to detect problems and to initiate recovery actions.

The course is delivered by experts from the internationally-renowned Centre for Software Reliability (Prof. Lorenzo Strigini and Dr. Eugenio Alberdi).
