    Registration

    Once you have received an unconditional offer of a place on a course and we have received your firm acceptance of that offer, you will be sent an email in later summer 2010 with your unique login details, inviting you to activate your IT account and to register as a student with us online.


    Online registration

    During the online registration process you will be asked to:

    Once you have completed the online elements of registration please print your Registration Certificate, which you must bring with you to your induction session at City University London. If you are paying Overseas fees, you must also bring with you your passport. Alternatively, if you do not need a visa to enter the UK or are a UK or EU citizen, please bring along any other form of national photgraphic ID in order that we can complete the final ID check, take copies of visas and passports where necessary and finally, issue you with your City University London ID card.

    Paying fees

    How do I pay my fees?

    You can pay online, by telephone, in person, by post, or by bank giro credit.

    How to pay online

    Complete the electronic form for online payments, using one of the accepted debit or credit cards listed above.

    How to pay by telephone

    To make a telephone payment, call our automated service on +44 (0)20 7040 6040. You will be asked to pay using one of the accepted debit or credit cards listed above. Please have your card ready.

    How to pay in person

    Payments can be made at the Cash Office in room A341 in College Building (using one of the accepted types of payment listed above) where we can give you an official receipt, and you can be sure that the payment will be credited to your account straight away.

    How to pay by post

    If you wish to pay by post, we advise you to complete a hard copy form with the details of your debit or credit card, or direct debit instruction (using one of the accepted types of payment listed above). The forms are linked to the accepted types of payment above and can be printed off and posted to us at the address on the form.

    How to pay by bank giro credit

    If you use bank giro credit to make a payment – paying a cheque into the University account at a bank or transfer money from abroad– there will be a delay before we can credit the payment to your account, as we have first to identify it; we are not automatically given the name of the payee for payments made this way. The delay can be avoided if you ensure that your bank quotes your name and the name of the course that you are studying when making payment to us. The bank should also be able to give you a receipt or a remittance advice which you can either send to us or bring to the COSAF Office.

    Please note: the University has an obligation to comply with recent UK legislation which requires us to monitor certain financial transactions. We may conduct 'know your customer' checks on you when you make your payment. You will be required to present documentary evidence to confirm your name, date of birth and current address. This will normally be your passport or national identity photocard to confirm your name and date of birth along with a utility bill, rental agreement or similar document to confirm your address.

    We will be required to conduct a Know Your Customer check on you if you are paying a sum greater than £2,500 by any of the following three methods: Advice on payment methods for overseas students who do not have a UK bank account is given on the Paying fees - overseas students page.

    Instalment scheme

    The University operates an instalment payment scheme for most self-financing students.

    Sponsored students

    If your fees will be paid by a sponsor, you must either make payment at or before registration or present a completed Sponsorship form (SP1), signed and stamped by the sponsor’s representative, agreeing to payment of the fee within 30 days of an invoice being presented. If the fee is not paid promptly you will become personally liable for the debt. Please note that companies run by relatives or friends will not be accepted as sponsors.

    Deposits

    A non-refundable deposit of £500 (UK/EU students) or £2500 (overseas students) is requested for some MSc programmes. This amount is deducted from the fees when you register.
