The 'Virtual City' Project

Welcome to the Virtual City University Campus which is based on VRML technology and is part of the LOCUS project.

VRML is a high-level 3D graphics API file based on ASCII or Unicode format. All data were scanned using aerial photography and a rough 3D mesh was extracted using ArcGIS. The texturing of the buildings as well as extra street geometry was performed in another professional tool called 3ds max.

Feel free to navigate inside the 3D urban environment using just the mouse or the keyboard. You can get a drop-down menu using the right button of your mouse. Try to find the green ball in the virtual campus and click on it. Have fun..

A list of useful resources for VRML can be found here.

If your browser does not support VRML then you can download Cortona Client from here.
